Punjab Floods 2025: Sialkot, Narowal and Jhang Among Worst-Hit Districts

Lahore (September 14, 2025): Punjab has been hit by one of the worst flood disasters in recent years. According to the latest report released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Sialkot, Narowal, and Jhang have emerged as the three most severely affected districts. Rescue and relief operations are currently underway across the province as millions of people struggle with the devastation.


Sialkot – The Most Affected District

Sialkot tops the list of flood-hit districts. Around 1,069 Mauzas (villages and urban localities) have been submerged, directly impacting over 1.77 million people. Unfortunately, the floods have also claimed 24 lives in Sialkot alone.


Narowal – Second on the List

Narowal stands second in terms of destruction, with 908 Mauzas affected. The floods have displaced approximately 180,000 residents, and four deaths have been reported so far.


Jhang – Third Most Affected

In Jhang, 313 Mauzas have been hit by floodwaters. Luckily, no deaths or injuries have been reported, but the damage to homes, farmland, and infrastructure remains severe.


Other Districts Under Flood Impact

Apart from these three majorly affected areas, several other districts across Punjab are also struggling with heavy flooding:

  • Gujrat: 214 Mauzas affected, 4 deaths reported.
  • Gujranwala/Wazirabad: 74 Mauzas submerged.
  • Mandi Bahauddin: 78 Mauzas affected.
  • Hafizabad: 165 Mauzas.
  • Sargodha: 41 Mauzas.
  • Chiniot: 144 Mauzas.
  • Khanewal: 158 Mauzas.
  • Multan: 138 Mauzas.
  • Muzaffargarh: 147 Mauzas.
  • Sheikhupura: 96 Mauzas.
  • Lahore: 26 Mauzas (though local officials clarified that no deaths occurred despite earlier reports).
  • Other impacted areas include Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Okara, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Lodhran, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur.

Over 4.5 Million People Affected in Punjab Floods

The PDMA report confirms that so far:

  • 4,744 Mauzas across Punjab have been hit.
  • 2,489 Mauzas were flooded due to the Chenab River.
  • 1,458 Mauzas were impacted by the Ravi River.
  • 701 Mauzas by the Sutlej River.
  • 96 Mauzas by the Indus River.

In total, more than 4.57 million people have been affected, while 101 people have lost their lives.


Relief and Rescue Operations in Progress

Authorities have managed to evacuate over 2.5 million people from flood-hit regions. Around 2 million livestock have also been moved to safer areas.

Currently, 392 relief camps are operational across Punjab, hosting more than 81,000 displaced people. At the same time, 493 medical camps have provided treatment to over 380,000 patients, while 422 veterinary camps are active to support livestock health.


Government Response and Clarifications

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza has clarified that the single death reported in Lahore was a clerical error by Rescue 1122. “No flood-related casualties occurred in Lahore district,” he confirmed.
